Equipment

  • 24cm flan dish

Ingredients

  • low-calorie cooking spray
  • 1 medium leek finely sliced
  • 3 smoked bacon medallions
  • 2 garlic cloves peeled and crushed
  • 6 medium eggs
  • 200 ml light double cream alternative
  • 100 g quark
  • ½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic granules
  • 100 g reduced-fat Cheddar cheese finely grated
  • 15 g Parmesan cheese finely grated
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Spray a frying pan with low-calorie cooking spray and set on a low-medium heat. Cook the bacon, leeks and garlic for 4-5 minutes until the leeks are softening and bacon browned. Slice the bacon and leave to one side with the leeks to cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 170°C.
  • Break the eggs into a large bowl and whisk. Add the double cream alternative, quark, Dijon mustard and garlic granules. Continue to whisk until fully combined. Season well with salt and pepper.
  • Stir through the cheddar cheese, bacon and leeks. Pour the egg mixture into a 24cm flan dish. Sprinkle over the Parmesan cheese.
  • Place the dish onto a baking tray and pop into the oven for 25-30 minutes, until the quiche is golden brown. The quiche should be set around the edge with a very slight wobble in the centre. The heat from the quiche will finish cooking the centre, so that it has a light creamy quiche texture when slicing.

Notes

Tip: You can swap the bacon for sliced ham instead, if you prefer.

Good Gut Health 35 Plants Salad – 249 calories per pack

Good Gut Health 35 Plants Salad featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (249 calories per pack).

This Good Gut Health 35 Plants Salad from M&S doesn’t just make lunchtimes easier, it keeps them nice and nutritious too. In the ‘good for your gut’ ready-made combo of greens, you get lots of vibrant veggies mixed in with filling rice, quinoa and lentils.

It’s all brought together with a separate pot of zingy tahini live yogurt dressing that you can drizzle on top before you tuck in.

There’s no such thing as a boring salad with our Spicy Braised Beef Salad. It’s served with tender, slow-cooked beef in a rich, spiced gravy, so you can enjoy it year-round (even on chilly days!).

While the marinated beef chunks are the star of the show, the punchy, homemade salad slaw is what takes the whole dish up a notch.

Spicy Braised Beef Salad - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Good Gut Health 35 Plants Salad is available from Ocado and M&S, priced at £4.75 per pack.

Ready Set Cook Mini Chocolate Egg Cookie Dough – 186 calories per bar

Ready Set Cook Mini Chocolate Egg Cookie Dough featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (186 calories per bar).

These bars of Ready Set Cook Mini Chocolate Egg Cookie Dough from Aldi are so easy to throw in the oven when you fancy something sweet. It might be too early, but the colourful chunks of mini egg have us looking forward to Easter already!

Slice the dough into six pieces and bake until the luscious, chocolatey chunks are ready to enjoy as mini cookie-style bites.

Why stop there? You can always make a SUPERSIZED cookie by following our one-pot Slow Cooker Giant Cookie recipe. When it’s time to lift the lid on your slow cooker, your cookie will be squidgy, warm and ready to serve with a scoop of low-calorie ice cream.

You’ll find the full recipe on pages 246-247 of our newest cookbook, All in One.

Pinch of Nom's Slow Cooker Giant Cookie is served freshly-baked on a tiled countertop; half of it has already been sliced into four portions. The gooey milk chocolate pieces are showing throughout the middle of the sponge and on top of the bake.

Ready Set Cook Mini Chocolate Egg Cookie Dough bars are available from Aldi, priced at £1.79 each.

Wagamama Firecracker Mayo – 28 calories per 10ml (approx.)

Wagamama Firecracker Mayo featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (28 calories per 10ml (approx.)).

While we love a visit to Wagamama from time to time, this Wagamama Firecracker Mayo is a delicious way to bring the flavours home. Chilli rated ‘hot’, we’d only recommend trying this fiery condiment if you’re feeling brave.

Whether you’re looking at an aromatic stir-fry, a golden bowl of chips or a stacked sarnie, you won’t regret adding a drizzle.

You might not know that our Katsu Chicken Curry was inspired by a visit to Wagamama. To recreate the signature Katsu-style crunch for a fraction of the calories, our recipe coats tender chicken breasts in a layer of low-calorie tortilla chips.

It’s fine to use panko breadcrumbs, if you’d prefer – just be sure to adjust the nutritional values if you’re keeping track!

Katsu Chicken Curry - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Wagamama Firecracker Mayo is available from Ocado, priced at £2.25 per bottle.

Sainsbury’s Creamy Mushrooms with Thyme & Cracked Black Pepper – 146 calories per 1/2 pack

Sainsbury's Creamy Mushrooms with Thyme & Cracked Black Pepper featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (146 calories per 1/2 pack).

These Sainsbury’s Creamy Mushrooms with Thyme & Cracked Black Pepper taste so luxuriously creamy for only 146 calories per serving. Fresh from the microwave or oven, they make for a decadent starter or side dish.

We tried them spooned over fresh, golden slices of our Cheesy Garlic Bread and we can confirm, it was absolutely yum!

If you love garlic mushrooms and you’ve not tried our Cheesy Mushroom Bake yet, you need to change that this weekend. That oh-so-cheesy, crispy crumb topping is too good to miss out on.

We whip up our using a food processor but if you don’t have one, you can always use a box grater instead.

For more slimming-friendly recipes that make the most of mushrooms, tap through to our blog here.

An oven dish is filled with a freshly-made batch of Pinch of Nom's Cheesy Mushroom Bake, topped with a crispy-looking golden breadcrumb topping.

Sainsbury’s Creamy Mushrooms with Thyme & Cracked Black Pepper is available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £3.00 per pack.

M&S High Protein Bang Bang Cauliflower – 364 calories per pack

M&S High Protein Bang Bang Cauliflower featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (364 calories per pack).

If you’re on the lookout for a Meat-free Monday option that still packs in plenty of protein, this M&S High Protein Bang Bang Cauliflower ticks both of those boxes!

The florets are coated in a velvety peanut, coconut and chilli sauce, and served over a bed of protein-packed lentil rice that isn’t just filling – it’s super tasty too.

You’ll be amazed by how versatile cauliflower is. It’s one of our favourite veggies to get creative with, ever since we first discovered our Cauliflower and Chicken Fried Rice recipe.

A fakeaway with a nutritious twist, we’ve used riced cauliflower instead of rice to keep the calories and carbs lower. It’s a meal in itself, but we like it best served as part of a selection of Chinese-style bits!

Pinch of Nom's Cauliflower and Chicken Fried Rice served in 4 bowls with spoons waiting to dig in; each fluffy portion has plenty of chopped chicken and spring onion scattered on top.

M&S High Protein Bang Bang Cauliflower is available from Ocado and M&S, priced at £5.50 per pack.

All Things Butter Cinnamon Bun Butter – 58 calories per 10g (approx.)

All Things Butter Cinnamon Bun Butter featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (58 calories per 10g (approx.).

The first of a brand-new range from All Things Butter, we couldn’t ignore how delicious this Cinnamon Bun Butter sounds!

A blend of extra creamy twice-churned butter, warming cinnamon, sugar and zesty lemon, it’s guaranteed to be delicious whether you bake with it, cook with it or spread a layer on your morning slice of toast.

We’re so intrigued to see what you make with it if you pick a pack up (please share photos in our Facebook group – we love to see them!).

We can’t think about cinnamon without mentioning our Air Fryer Cinnamon Breakfast Buns. These lovely little beauties are a dream to rustle up in your air fryer, thanks to the easy-to-follow recipe on pages 48-49 of our Air Fryer cookbook.

It only takes a few minutes to roll and fill a whole batch. Then you’ll top them with a sticky-sweet glaze, ready to make your frothy morning coffee even better…

Pinch of Nom's Air Fryer Cinnamon Breakfast Buns are on a cooling rack, ready to be enjoyed. They're topped with a homemade vanilla icing glaze and swirled through with a cinnamon filling.

All Things Butter Cinnamon Bun Butter is available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £2.85 per pack.

Seabrook Fish & Chips Crisps – 126 calories per 1/5 bag

Seabrook Fish & Chips Crisps featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (126 calories per 1/5 bag).

As part of a range celebrating Bradford’s status as UK city of culture for 2025, you can grab a pack of Seabrook Fish & Chips Crisps from Morrisons (as well as ‘Chicken Curry’ and Cheddar & Chutney’ flavoured packs).

We grabbed the chippy-inspired flavour since it sounded the most weirdly wonderful to us, and we have no regrets!

You can tell we’re big fans of fish and chips at Pinch of Nom from how much love we’ve put into our Fish and Chip Pie recipe. Rather than pastry, we’ve used golden, crispy chips as our topping, over a filling of flaky fish and mushy peas.

Our top tip for this one? Serve with a good sprinkling of salt and vinegar on your chips, of course!

Pinch of Nom's Fish and Chip Pie is served in a large, round casserole dish. Underneath a topping of crispy, golden chips, you can see flaky white fish and vibrant green mushy peas. A squeezy bottle of ketchup is nearby, and a portion of the recipe has been spooned into a takeaway style polystyrene carton.

Seabrook Fish & Chips Crisps are available from Morrisons, priced at £1.75 for a shareable bag.

Iceland Chilli Hot Wave Crunchy Coated Chicken Strips – 258 calories per air-fried serving

Iceland Chilli Hot Wave Crunchy Coated Chicken Strips featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (258 calories per air-fried serving).

These Iceland Chilli Hot Wave Crunchy Coated Chicken Strips bring home takeaway flavours, for a fraction of the cost and calories. Coated in a smoky, spicy, paprika-loaded crumb (that reminds us of Chilli Heatwave Doritos!), they’re really low-fuss to bake in the oven or your air fryer basket.

For a takeaway-inspired feast, you could always plate your chicken strips up with a portion of Salt and Pepper Chips. Our recipe is ready in well under half an hour with a short list of ingredients and an easy mix of staple herbs and spices.

You could even cut the time down by using our Salt and Pepper Chips Seasoning Mix. It’s available to buy as part of our Fakeaway Favourites box on Amazon here.

A baking tray lined with greaseproof paper is filled with Pinch of Nom's Salt and Pepper Chips. The golden chips are mixed with finely diced red and green peppers and salt and pepper seasoning. A small pot of ketchup and a small pot of mayonnaise are served alongside the chips, and a hand holds one chip, dipping it into the ketchup.

Iceland Chilli Hot Wave Crunchy Coated Chicken Strips are available from Iceland, priced at £4.00 per pack.

English Cheesecake Company Salted Caramel Cheesecake Bites – 142 calories per bite

English Cheesecake Company Salted Caramel Cheesecake Bites featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (142 calories per bite).

We’re so glad these English Cheesecake Company Salted Caramel Cheesecake Bites come ready-portioned, because it would be so easy to eat the whole box!

The silky salted caramel cheesecake centre rests on a biscuit base, and it’s all topped off with even more caramel and crunchy crumbs. Need we say more?

You can even stash these little slices of heaven in the freezer – imagine enjoying them defrosted, chilled and bursting with refreshing sweetness!

For a fruitier cheesecake treat, you could always try our Fruit Swirl Cheesecake Squares. Thanks to a handful of nifty swaps, we’ve kept things nice and light at 115 calories per berry-sweet serving.

We’ve simmered fresh berries and orange until syrupy, and blitzed them into an eye-catching, raspberry red purée.

Fruit Swirl Cheesecake Squares - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

English Cheesecake Company Salted Caramel Cheesecake Bites are available from Morrisons, priced at £3.25 for a pack of 6 bites.

Dr Pepper Zero Cherry Crush Limited Edition – 3 calories per can

Dr Pepper Zero Cherry Crush Limited Edition featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (3 calories per can).

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Will you treat yourself to a pack of limited edition Dr Pepper Zero Cherry Crush? Combining the fizz of classic Dr Pepper with sweet bursts of chilly, it makes for a really refreshing sip (and it’s light too, at 3 calories per can!).

Run, don’t walk to Sainsbury’s – we’ve got a feeling this one might be popular.

Did someone say ‘cherry’? It’s time to make Cherry Pie Turnovers again. Our take on the bakery-bought pastry uses frozen cherries to create a showstopping, syrupy filling.

We’ve found the trick with this one is not to add too much sweetener. Taste-test your cherries to make sure they’re not super sweet already, before sprinkling in the right amount of sweetener for your taste buds.

An array of Pinch of Nom's Cherry Pie Turnovers sliced in half with the cherry filling spilling onto white serving plates, with a swirl of reduced-fat aerosol cream to the side.

Dr Pepper Zero Cherry Crush Limited Edition cans are available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £3.75 for a pack of 8.

NEW Aldi Super 6 Fruit and Veg Selection

We love Aldi’s fortnightly selection of fresh fruit and veggies! They choose different items for a special offer where you can pick them up for much less than the normal price.

Here’s the rundown of this week’s Super 6 offering, along with some recipe ideas for you.

Red Onions – 41 calories per 100g

Red Onions from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (41 calories per 100g).

With more antioxidants than their white and brown counterparts, Red onions are a super versatile veggie that you can enjoy raw or cooked. It’s always handy to have a few in your kitchen, especially if you’re looking to sauté the base for a rich, homemade sauce.

You’ll find red onion finely chopped and simmered until sweet for our Caramelised Onion Quiche. Delicious hot or cold, we never get bored of this recipe.

Pinch of Nom's Caramelised Onion Quiche is served in a large ovenproof dish. A quarter has already been sliced, with one slice waiting in the dish to be removed and another off to the side. A small portion of salad is also served to the side.Easy Peelers – 35 calories per 100g

Easy Peelers from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (35 calories per 100g).

Easy peelers are a dream to snack on;  sweet, juicy, and (as the name suggests!) so fuss-free to peel. They’re perfect for stashing in your lunchbox to take on the go for a slimming-friendly bite.

They’ll also add a vitamin C boost to your breakfast spread, no matter how you like your eggs! If fiery’s the way, try our lip-smacking Harissa Eggs next time you fancy toast.

Pinch of Nom's Harissa Eggs recipe is served for breakfast with a hot cup of coffee and a sunny-side up egg on top.

Blueberries – 57 calories per 100g

Blueberries from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (57 calories per 100g).

Blueberries pack a punch when it comes to vitamin C and antioxidants. Sprinkle a few on your breakfast, pair them with yoghurt or bake them into these Lemon and Blueberry Baked Oats

Hearty and filling, these are guaranteed to fuel you until lunchtime!

Lettuce – 16 calories per 100g

Sweet Gem Lettuce from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (14 calories per 100g).

Crisp and fresh, sweet gem lettuce is a versatile, leafy ingredient. Slice it, grill it, pan-fry it or use it to scoop up other tasty ingredients – it holds its shape really well, so it works as a ‘cup’ or even as a ‘spoon’!

Drizzled in sauce and layered with salad, transform sweet gem lettuce into a feast with our Katsu Curry Burgers recipe. You’ll be obsessed with our homemade katsu sauce.

Pinch of Nom's Katsu Curry Burgers spilling onto pink hexagonal serving plates; the burger buns are open to reveal the crispy chicken patties inside, covered in a drizzle of Katsu-style sauce and fresh colourful salad veg.

Limes – 30 calories per 100g

Limes from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (30 calories per 100g).

Limes are little bursts of zesty magic that can brighten up any dish with just a squeeze! Take our Honey and Lime Pork Nachos for example – they wouldn’t be the same without a tangy twist.

At just 495 calories per bowl, this one’s the ultimate savoury sharer for a cosy night-in hiding from the wintery weather.

Pinch of Nom's colourful Honey and Lime Pork Nachos are served in a large dish at the centre of a table with a homemade mix of garlic-infused yoghurt in a small bowl to the side, waiting to be dipped.

Spring Onions – 32 calories per 100g

Spring Onions from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (32 calories per 100g).

With a burst of fresh, vibrant flavour, spring onions are always handy to have in the fridge. From salads and stir-fries to a simple garnish, they add a mild punch of flavour wherever they’re sprinkled.

Why not toss them together with crumbly cheese for our gorgeous Stilton Roast Potatoes?

Pinch of Nom's Stilton Roast Potatoes are fresh from the oven, on a silver baking tray. The potatoes are golden and crispy at the edges, covered with melted Stilton cheese, sliced spring onions and finely chopped parsley.

Onken Greek Style Natural Set Yoghurt – 112 calories per 100g

Onken Greek Style Natural Set Yoghurt featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (112 calories per 100g).

With a pot of Onken Greek Style Natural Set Yoghurt in the fridge, you can easily whip up tasty baked treats, smoothies, sauces or marinades, without the need for full-fat creams, oil or butter.

The thicker, creamier texture really takes things up a notch, for fewer calories, and that’s with heaps of good-for-your-gut live cultures thrown in too.

When it comes to cooling down spicy dishes, yoghurt is usually our first port of call. A few dollops of Tzatziki instantly elevates any Greek-style feast, and you can use Onken to rustle up our recipe.

Refreshing and zesty, a spoonful or two has always proved to be a good idea with just about any marinated meat – think juicy lamb chops or chargrilled chicken kebabs

Or, if you’re feeling snackish, take wholemeal pitta bread slices or chopped veggies for a dunk.

A hand is reaching to dip golden, crispy pitta bread pieces in Pinch of Nom's slimming-friendly Tzatziki, presented at the centre of a table in a light blue bowl.

Onken Greek Style Natural Set Yoghurt is available from Morrisons, priced at £1.50 per tub.

Alpro Barista Caramel Chilled Drink – 50 calories per 100ml

Alpro Barista Caramel Chilled Drink featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (50 calories per 100ml).

It’s that time of year where we fancy a warm, sweet brew basically all the time! Pick up a carton of Alpro Barista Caramel Chilled Drink, and you can recreate your favourite cafe-bought beverages at home with no sugar-loaded syrups in sight.

The plant-based blend of soya and oats is so silky, it pours seamlessly into an Americano, or foams up perfectly for a latte.

You can even stir some into our wholesome Apple Pie Porridge for an added layer of sweetness. It’ll pair nicely with the honey-glazed, caramelised apple slices and crunchy almonds nestled on top.

Feel free to have a look through our list of slimming-friendly porridge topper ideas for more inspiration. Just be sure to take note of any additional calories, if you’re counting.

Pinch of Nom's Apple Pie Porridge served in three bowls on a yellow and white striped tabletop, with spoons waiting to dig in. Apple slices and flaked almonds are scattered on top.

Alpro Barista Caramel Chilled Drink is available from Tesco, priced at £1.75 per carton.

The Gym Kitchen High Protein Maple Pancakes – 119 calories per pancake

The Gym Kitchen High Protein Maple Pancakes featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (119 calories per pancake).

These time-saving The Gym Kitchen High Protein Maple Pancakes come ready to slot straight into your toaster. Simply let them warm up for 60 seconds and enjoy!

You’ll get 6.6 grams of protein in each fluffy pancake, or 26 grams from the full stack.

They’re already infused with moreish maple flavours, but there’s nothing to stop you adding an extra drizzle of sugar-free syrup. Sprinkle on some juicy berries and a dollop of fat-free yoghurt for good measure.

We like our sweet toppings to have a hint of savoury in the mix, that’s what makes our Bacon and Maple Blueberry Pancakes recipe so flippin’ good.

You won’t find flour on our ingredients list. Instead, we get oh-so-fluffy results every time by using Ready Brek instead. Finely-blitzed rolled oats work like a charm too!

Morrisons Street Slow Cooked Beef Brisket In A Peppercorn Sauce – 168 calories per 1/2 pack (oven cooked)

Morrisons Street Slow Cooked Beef Brisket In A Peppercorn Sauce featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (168 calories per 1/2 pack oven cooked).

There are loads of new additions to choose from in Morrisons’ latest oven-cook range, and this ‘Morrisons Street’ Slow Cooked Beef Brisket in a Peppercorn Sauce is just one of the meals that caught our eye.

Your oven will do the hard work for you here, taking 25 minutes to turn the beef fall-off-the-fork tender with a bubbling rich and velvety peppercorn sauce. What’s not to love?

For a midweek dinner that’s hearty without any hassle, plate it up with your favourite veg and a batch of Air Fryer Roast Potatoes.

You can’t beat air-frying when it’s fluffy-in-the-middle, crispy-on-the-outside spuds you’re after. Follow our recipe and they’ll be perfectly golden within half an hour, for only 315 calories per portion (turn to pages 126-127 of our Air Fryer cookbook).

Don’t worry if you’ve not got an air fryer at home yet – you can tap here to try our oven method.

Aunt Bessie’s Cauliflower Cheese – 121 calories per 1/4 pack

Aunt Bessie’s Cauliflower Cheese featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (121 calories per 1/4 pack).

We’re always over the moon to see something new from Aunt Bessie’s, which made picking up a bag of new Aunt Bessie’s Cauliflower Cheese a no-brainer. It’s a tough job taste-testing tender florets smothered in a four-cheese sauce, but someone’s gotta do it!

Our top tip is to bake it for a little bit longer than you think, until you spot that gorgeous, golden brown skin on top. Now we’re in the mood for a plate of beef and gravy…

With cottage cheese and reduced-fat Cheddar on our ingredients list, we’ve kept the calories in our own Cauliflower Cheese recipe lower, without losing cheesy deliciousness.

The sauce turns out luscious and creamy, with a crispy topping – and we’ve stirred in soft leeks and red onion for even more flavour and texture.

This was the first of a batch of classic recipes we’re revamping on our website! Make sure you’re on our email list so you don’t miss the next one.

Pinch of Nom's slimming-friendly Cauliflower Cheese is served fresh from the oven, in a large, rectangular blue oven dish on a stripy orange tablecloth. The cheesy topping is golden brown, and a serving spoon with an orange handle is resting in the dish.

Aunt Bessie’s Cauliflower Cheese is available from Aldi, priced at £3.25 per bag.

Morrisons Southern Style Chicken Gravy – 66 calories per 1/3 pack

Morrisons Southern Style Chicken Gravy featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (66 calories per 1/3 pack).

Add a glug of Morrisons Southern Style Chicken Gravy to chicken or chips, and you’ll immediately feel like you’re eating a takeaway. This thick, rich mix has all the Southern-style flavours you’d find in a pot from a restaurant, with hints of cayenne pepper thrown in for a subtle kick of heat.

If you really want to give KFC a run for its money, crisp up a chicken burger to pair with gravy-loaded chips, with the help of our Flava It! Crispy Southern Chicken seasoning mix.

There’s nothing secretive about our blend of herbs and spices, and it’s not just great for giving burgers a golden coating: try it with nuggets, Katsu curry, Scotch eggs and more.

All of your questions about our full range of Flava It! sachets are answered in our blog.

Pinch of Nom's Flava It! Crispy Southern Chicken is served in a burger bun, with salad. One burger is placed on a napkin, resting on a yellow chopping board. The other burger is in a red and white striped takeaway-style cardboard box in the background.

Roosters Breaded Chicken Poppers With BBQ Dip – 294 calories per 1/3 pack (oven cooked, with dip)

Roosters Breaded Chicken Poppers With BBQ Dip featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (294 calories per 1/3 pack with dip).

If it wasn’t obvious already that we’re big fans of a certain Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, our excitement over these Roosters Breaded Chicken Poppers is bound to give us away. These bite-sized, breadcrumb coated poppers aren’t alone, they also come with a separate sachet of sweet and smoky BBQ sauce.

You can’t argue with how easy they are to ‘pop’ in the air fryer!

We know a thing or two about air-frying popcorn chicken, thanks to our Air Fryer Chipotle Popcorn Chicken recipe. The trick is never to overfill your basket; that way, your air fryer should make light work of recreating restaurant-quality, crispy chicken pieces.

The sticky chipotle marinade soaks in like magic, turning every bite into a mildly spicy, smoky treat. That’s still true even if you cook them up in your oven, by the way!

Pinch of Nom's Chipotle Popcorn Chicken is served in a takeaway-style red plastic basket, lined with red and white chequered paper. On a small red plate, a few pieces of popcorn chicken have been served with some sauce. An additional pot of sauce is nearby, ready for the chicken to be dipped in.

Cadbury Caramilk Mousse – 72 calories per pot

Cadbury Caramilk Mousse featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (72 calories per pot).

Prepare to fall in love with Cadbury Caramilk Mousse. If you’re already a fiend for Cadbury Caramilk chocolate bars, you’ll be in heaven with these lovely little pots. The light and airy mousse mixture is just as golden as the chocolate you’re used to, with that same blend of caramel and white chocolate flavours.

We’d recommend grabbing a blanket and chilling on the sofa while you tuck in!

The same goes for our decadent-tasting, crunchy-topped Biscoff Mousse. It only takes 5 minutes to follow the recipe, and then you’ll just have to resist temptation for 30 minutes while it sets in the fridge.

We’ve not stopped at swirling in everyone’s favourite spiced-caramel spread, we’ve also crumbled Biscoff biscuits on top – luckily you can never have too much Biscoff!

4 glass ramekins are filled with Pinch of Nom's Biscoff Mousse recipe. The creamy mousse is golden-coloured, topped with a sprinkling of crushed Lotus Biscoff biscuits. Two of the ramekins sit on blue place settings, and 3 golden spoons are arranged on the surface.

Cadbury Caramilk Mousse is available from Morrisons, priced at £2.00 for a pack of 4 pots.

Magnum BonBons Gold Caramel Billionaire – 100 calories per 2 bonbons

Magnum BonBons Gold Caramel Billionaire featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (100 calories per 2 bonbons).

That’s right, we’ve got yet another golden caramel treat for you! You can pick up White Chocolate Cookie or Salted Caramel Almond BonBons if you’d prefer, but we went for Magnum BonBons Gold Caramel Billionaire.

Who can say no to vanilla ice cream swirled with salted caramel sauce, wrapped in golden caramel white chocolate and biscuit pieces, ready divided into bite-sized chunks? Not us.

We’re making room in the freezer right now for a big batch of our Millionaire’s Ice Cream. It’s from pages 240-241 of our Enjoy cookbook, and we can promise one thing: it’s luxury by the scoop!

An ice cream swirled with toffee, biscuit and chocolate pieces might not sound slimming friendly, and yet our recipe is at just 156 calories per bowl.

A freezer-friendly tin is filled with Pinch of Nom's Millionaire's Ice Cream, as it's being scooped into two side bowls with a large spoon. Toffee, biscuit and chocolate pieces are visibly poking out of the indulgent-looking vanilla ice cream mixture.

Magnum BonBons Gold Caramel Billionaire are available from Ocado, priced at £4.50 per tub.

Celery from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (14 calories per 100g).

Celery is a versatile vegetable that’s well worth picking up each week! It makes for a tasty addition to base sauces or stews and soups, along with two of the other items on this week’s Super 6: onions and carrots.

It’s also great to nibble on dunked into a budget-friendly homemade dip. Celery cooks down nicely to boost the flavours cooking sauces for lots of wholesome dishes, our Creamy Tomato Pasta.

Pinch of Nom's Creamy Tomato Pasta is served in one large family-sized bowl, with 3 smaller, individual portions to the side. The pasta is garnished with basil leaves.

A small portion of salad is also served to the side.

Closed Cup Mushrooms – 17 calories per 100g

Closed Cup Mushrooms from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (17 calories per 100g).

Love them or hate them, mushrooms are a handy, versatile ingredient that can be added to lots of different dishes. Super low in calories, they bulk out recipes, making them more filling while keeping things slimming friendly.

There’s definitely been a chill in the air lately, that’s why we’ll be adding this Chicken and Mushroom Pie to our weekly meal plan. Don’t be fooled by the crunchy pastry topping, our recipe is just 247 calories per serving.

A spoonful of Chicken and Mushroom Pie is being served onto a dinner plate. Filo pastry has been scrunched on top of the pie and baked until golden and crunchy. The creamy chicken and mushroom filling is visible where the portion has been removed from the pie dish.

Salad Potatoes – 75 calories per 100g

Salad Potatoes from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (75 calories per 100g).

You can’t beat the versatility of potatoes! While they might look similar to baby potatoes, these ones are a little more dense and hold their shape nicely, even after being cooked.

Why not pop a few in your basket to make a refreshing side portion of our Potato Salad recipe? We’ve used a satisfying mixture of quark, spring onions and chives to make this creamy salad as tasty as it is slimming friendly.

Pinch of Nom's Potato Salad is served on a large plate, coated in a creamy sauce with plenty of spring onion and chives stirred through. A fork is waiting to tuck in, with side plates ready to serve.

Royal Gala Apples – 52 calories per 100g

Royal Gala Apples from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (52 calories per 100g).

Royal Gala are pink-red dessert apples with a mild sweet flavour and a crisp texture. They’re also a lot of fun to cook with, especially if you’re making a sweet treat!

Our Apple Strudel recipe is delicious all-year-round, but we love it even more when there’s a chill in the air. Why not make this sweet-filled pastry for dessert tonight?

Pinch of Nom's Apple Strudel is fresh from the oven on a wire rack, with a spatula waiting to scoop it onto a plate.

Califia Farms Extra Creamy Oat Milk Alternative – 46 calories per 100ml

Califia Farms Extra Creamy Oat Milk Alternative featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (46 calories per 100ml).

Take a break from dairy with Califia Farms Extra Creamy Oat Milk Alternative. This thicker, creamier blend is absolutely gorgeous poured into your morning coffee, or a warming bowl of Apple Pie Porridge.

It’s also high in lots of different lovely vitamins and minerals (including plenty of vitamins A and D), making it a velvety, nutritious swap wherever you’d normally use dairy milk.

Oat milk can also offer a great alternative to full-fat cream in our gorgeous and green Cream of Spinach Soup recipe. We love to make it extra peppery by going heavy on the rocket side of things, or you can make it a little milder by adding extra spinach.

Pop it in your soup flask for a lunch that’s light, silky and full of leafy goodness!

A bowl of Pinch of Nom's Cream of Spinach and Rocket Soup has been ladled from a large pan. The soup is a vibrant shade of green, served with a garnish of fresh rocket and cracked black pepper.

Canderel 650 Tablets – 0 calories per tablet

Canderel 650 Tablets featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (0 calories per tablet).

With a handy tube of Canderel 650 Tablets, you can sweeten up teas, coffees and other hot drinks in an instant. While sweetener tablets and dispensers aren’t new, we’re buzzing to see one from a brand we use all the time (we’d be lost without Canderel Sugarly when it comes to making slimming-friendly sweet treats).

While one teaspoon of sugar comes to roughly 16 calories, you can stir in a Canderel tablet for 0 calories – and we promise, your brew will taste just as good!

Our Berry Toastie is one of those breakfast recipes that’s even better with a hot cup of tea. Think about a juicy medley of your favourite berries squished between two golden slices of toast, topped with maple syrup and icing sugar – all for less than 300 calories…

Pinch of Nom's Berry Toastie is served on a white and orange plate, on top of a bright orange place mat. A cup of tea waits nearby, and a small metal pot of maple syrup. Harvest Morn Protein Granola, Berry – 202 calories per 45g serving

Harvest Morn Protein Berry Granola featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (202 calories per 45g serving).

Put a spring in your step for the day ahead with Harvest Morn Protein Granola! One bowl has roughly 18g of protein, whether you pick up the fruity berry box, or the chocolate version from the same range.

The thing about granola is it can be sneakily high in sugar (and calories!). We usually crunch on a smaller portion with a dollop of yoghurt and fruit, for a light, summery brekkie or snack.

To make our slimming-friendly Raspberry Mocha Granola Pots, we’ve made our own coffee flavoured granola-style mixture using sticky, syrup-covered rolled oats.

With layers of chocolate yoghurt, juicy berries and reduced-fat cream, it’s like starting your day with a dessert!

Two glasses of Pinch of Nom's Raspberry Mocha Granola pots are served, topped with a swirl of cream, raspberries and a drizzle Sweet Freedom Choc Shot. Extra granola waits to the side to be sprinkled on top.

Harvest Morn Protein Granola – Berry is available from Aldi, priced at £2.09 per box.

Scoop a fluffy portion next to curries, stews, grilled meats, fish or spiced veggies for an easy-peasy meal.

There’s no doubt that the coconutty flavours would go nicely with a bowl of Red Thai Curry. Inspired by our go-to Thai takeaway order, we’ve used slimming-friendly swaps to bring the calories down, without losing zesty, aromatic deliciousness.

Rather than a heavy cream or coconut milk, we use Alpro Coconut Drink to give our sauce its irresistible silkiness.

A table is set with a large serving dish of Pinch of Nom's Thai-Style Red Curry at the centre, waiting to be scooped onto fluffy plates of rice with a large spoon. A plate of lime wedges waits to the side to be squeezed on top after serving.

A blend of tomatoes, ricotta cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino, peppers and carrots, it’s absolutely bursting with the flavours of Southern Italy.

You’d only need three tablespoons to make the zesty, garlicky dressing we’ve tossed into our Red Pesto Chicken Salad. We’ve also marinated our chicken pieces in the dressing, so the flavours are even more intense.

It’s all served on a bed of fresh, colourful veggies, with more dressing drizzled on top for good measure.

Pinch of Nom's Red Pesto Chicken Salad is served on a vibrant green plate. The table is laid with a colourful striped tablecloth and matching colourful cutlery.

Sacla’ Tomato & Ricotta Pesto is available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £3.35 per jar.

There are more flavour kits in the same range if you’re in the mood for a different fakeaway: Tandoori Chicken Naan, Chicken Chorizo Pasta and Greek-style Gyros should be in the same aisle at Tesco.

This feels like such a throwback now, but we actually have a Vegetable Biryani recipe in our first-ever cookbook! We’ve made sure to throw in lots and lots of beautiful vegetables, so that it’s super filling.

For an extra layer of texture and a bit of added protein, crack an egg and stir it through. Turn to pages 62-63 in your copy to try it tonight.

A table is set with takeaway-style trays filled with Pinch of Nom's Vegetable Biryani from the first cookbook.

Tesco Biryani Flavour Kit is available from Tesco, priced at £1.85 per box.

Propercorn Tangy Chilli Popcorn – 90 calories per serving

Propercorn Tangy Chilli Popcorn is available from Waitrose, priced at £1.50 for a shareable bag.

Nutella Ice Cream Tub – 168 calories per portion

Nutella Ice Cream Tub featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (168 calories per portion). We can’t tell you how excited we were when we spotted this Nutella Ice Cream Tub at Morrisons! It’s all the nutty flavours you know and love, swirled into an ultra-creamy, scrumptious frozen treat.

Grab your tub from the freezer and wait 10 minutes (if you can resist), so it’s nice and soft when you’re ready to serve.

It’s no surprise that we’re big fans of the world-famous hazelnut spread, and the proof is in our rich and chocolatey Nutella Baked Oats

You can tuck into them for a warming hug in the morning, or serve them with a squirt of cream for an indulgent-tasting pud. We tend to freeze a batch or two ready for when we need something effortless, sweet and filling in a hurry.

A portion of Pinch of Nom's Nutella Baked Oats is served in a small oven dish. A section of the oaty topping has been removed in the middle to reveal the gooey, chocolatey centre. There's extra chocolate spread in a small dish to the side with a spoon, waiting to tuck in.

Nutella Ice Cream Tub is available from Morrisons, priced at £5.50 per tub.

Four Seasons Battered Onion Bhaji Rings – 292 calories per 100g portion

Get two treats in one mouthful with a freezer-friendly bag of Four Seasons Battered Onion Bhaji Rings. Rather thayyyyyn a traditional coating of deep-fried breadcrumbs, a lightly-spiced, curried bhaji-inspired batter is wrapped around each onion centre.

We’ll let you in on a secret…we turned our Chicken Madras recipe into a fakeaway feast earlier this week with a side of Pilau Rice, and a crunchy portion of bhaji-battered rings. It was heavenly!

Madras curries are known for being on the spicier end of the scale, but the beauty of making your own from scratch is that you get to be in control of how much chilli goes into the mix. To cool things down, reduce the amount of fresh chillies, or serve with a dollop of fat-free yoghurt.

A table is set with a vibrant red tablecloth. In the centre, Pinch of Nom's Chicken Madras is served in a large silver, shallow pan with handles on each side. Half of the pan is filled with curry, and the other half is filled with fluffy white basmati rice. Coriander has been sprinkled on top.

Four Seasons Battered Onion Bhaji Rings are available from Aldi, priced at £1.79 per bag.

Romaine Lettuce – 17 calories per 100g

Weekly Pinch of Shopping - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Fresh and crunchy, romaine lettuce is great for salads, and it’ll add a nice bite layered inside a sandwich too. Since it’s so low in calories, it’s an ideal ingredient for high volume, low-calorie eating

There’s no such thing as a boring salad with our Chicken and Mango Salad on the menu. Full of colour and flavour, it’s all brought together with creamy avocado and a juicy-sweet mango dressing.

Large Flat Mushrooms – 16 calories per 100g

Weekly Pinch of Shopping - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

We’re kind of obsessed with the versatility of mushrooms! Flat mushrooms are just as low in calories as their smaller cousins, and they can be chopped into lots of different dishes to bulk them out.

Try slicing them into our vegetarian Mushroom and Spinach Lasagne, helping to make it hearty and filling, without the need to add meat.

Pinch of Nom's Mushroom and Spinach Lasagne is served at the centre of a table in a large ovenproof dish. Two portions of lasagne have been dished out onto plates, with a side of fresh salad.

Baby Potatoes – 75 calories per 100g

Weekly Pinch of Shopping - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Baby potatoes hold their shape after cooking, giving them a delicious bite that makes fresh salads and side dishes more satisfying. Why not take some home to make up a portion of our Garlic and Parmesan Potatoes?

Inspired by Italian flavours, these crispy, mouthwatering roasties come tossed in fresh garlic, Parmesan and herbs.

Radishes – 16 calories per 100g

Weekly Pinch of Shopping - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Mild and peppery in flavour, radishes are so easy to prep and throw into salads or stir-fries. They’ll add a scrummy crunchy texture to your lunch, for the bargain price of 39p per bag in this week’s Super 6 – don’t mind if we do!

You can try them as part of the rainbow-coloured salad that’s piled high on our Katsu Curry Burgers

Pinch of Nom's Katsu Curry Burgers spilling onto pink hexagonal serving plates; the burger buns are open to reveal the crispy chicken patties inside, covered in a drizzle of Katsu-style sauce and fresh colourful salad veg.

Red Onions – 41 calories per 100g

Weekly Pinch of Shopping - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

With more antioxidants than their white and brown counterparts, red onions are a super versatile veggie that you can enjoy raw or cooked. It’s always handy to have a few in your kitchen, especially if you’re looking to sauté the base for a rich, homemade sauce.

You’ll find red onion finely chopped and simmered until sweet for our Caramelised Onion Quiche. Delicious hot or cold, we never get bored of this recipe!

Pinch of Nom's Caramelised Onion Quiche is served in a large ovenproof dish. A quarter has already been sliced, with one slice waiting in the dish to be removed and another off to the side. A small portion of salad is also served to the side.

Beef Tomato – 20 calories per 100g

Weekly Pinch of Shopping - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

You know barbecue season has properly arrived when beef tomatoes are out to play. Easy to slice and the perfect size for a burger-loaded bite, we love having these in the fridge ready for when we’re having dinner in the garden.

Why not use a slice to add a juicy burst of tomatoey goodness to Turkey Burgers? They’re packed full of delicious flavour for only 176 calories per bun.

Two of Pinch of Nom's Turkey Burgers are served with a selection of condiments including red sauce and mustard.

Tesco Strawberries & Cream Flavour Popcorn – 124 calories per 1/4 bag

Tesco Strawberries & Cream Flavour Popcorn featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (124 calories per 1/4 pack)

We’ve seen a few interesting flavours of popcorn popping up recently, and this new Strawberries and Cream Flavour Popcorn from Tesco caught our eye this week. Based on the classic British summertime snack of juicy, fresh strawberries served with cream, it’s the perfect flavour to crunch in the sunshine!

The special ‘butterfly’ popcorn has a more open shape than traditional kernels, which is better for catching the sweet seasoning. That’s more irresistible flavour in every bite!

It’s hard to beat light, crispy popcorn when you’re snacking in front of a film, but we’ve got plenty of ideas for slimming-friendly alternatives in this handy roundup. It’s no surprise that you’ll find our Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries on the list – they’re dreamy little bites with a delicious crushed biscuit topping.

Pinch of Nom's Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries are scatted on a turquoise surface, dusted with biscuit crumbs. A small pink pot is nearby, filled with crushed biscuit. The tops of the strawberries have been cut off, and a cheesecake-style filling has been piped into each berry.

Tesco Strawberries & Cream Flavour Popcorn is available from Tesco, priced at £1.20.

Veetee Japanese Togarashi Spicy Sticky Rice – 80 calories per serving

Veetee Japanese Togarashi Spicy Sticky Rice featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (80 calories per serving)

Microwavable rice is always handy to have in the cupboard when you need a side dish in a hurry! This Veetee Japanese Togarashi Spicy Sticky Rice comes packed with fiery flavour, for just 80 calories per serving.

Pop it in the microwave for 2 minutes, or stir-fry it with your choice of meat and veggies. With a tastebud-tingling combination of fruity citrus, nutty sesame, fragrant ginger and hot chillies, it’ll spice up dinner times!

We’ll be serving ours with the Baked Teriyaki Tofu from Pinch of Nom: Budget. You can throw in any veggies you like (just don’t forget to press the tofu before cooking, to remove excess moisture).

Baked Teriyaki Tofu - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Veetee Japanese Togarashi Spicy Sticky Rice is available from Morrisons, priced at £1.40.

Munchmallow Strawberry Tea Cakes – 89 calories per tea cake

Munchmallow Strawberry Tea Cakes featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (89 calories per tea cake)

Who doesn’t love a tea cake? With a crunchy biscuit base, squishy marshmallow topping, jammy centre and white chocolate casing, these Munchmallow Strawberry Tea Cakes taste like such a treat.

The good news is that they’re only 89 calories each, so you can pop on the kettle and sit down with one (or two!) after your dinner.

Speaking of sweet treats to enjoy with a cuppa, our Cream Tea Scones bake to golden perfection in just 10 minutes. Instead of high-calorie clotted cream, we’ve made a velvety topping from fat-free yoghurt and icing sugar, keeping our recipe to just 93 calories per serving.

Pinch of Nom's Cream Tea Scones are served on an oven tray; some are sliced in half and plated up with layers of jam, cream and freshly-sliced strawberry on top.

Munchmallow Strawberry Tea Cakes are available from Iceland, priced at £1.00 for a pack of 6.

Old El Paso Mexi Popped Chips Chili – 94 calories per 21g portion

Old El Paso Mexi Popped Chips Chili featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (94 calories per 21g portion)

Whether you’re planning a Mexican-inspired fakeaway night or simply looking for a new savoury snack, nip to Tesco for a bag of these Chili-flavoured Old El Paso Mexi Popped Chips.

Lighter than tortilla chips, the crispy snacks have a wavy shape that makes them ideal for scooping up dips. They have a chilli rating of 1, so they’re not too fiery, but there’s also a sea salt version in the range, if that’s more your flavour!

Why not serve a handful on the side of our Mexican-Style Crunch Wrap for a tasty, low-calorie lunch? Far less messy than fajitas or burritos, the way we’ve folded these tortilla wraps makes sure you get all those moreish flavours in every last bite.

Mexican-Style Crunch Wrap - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Old El Paso Mexi Popped Chips Chili are available from Tesco, priced at £2.25.

Pinch of Nom's Potato Salad is served on a large plate, coated in a creamy sauce with plenty of spring onion and chives stirred through. A fork is waiting to tuck in, with side plates ready to serve.

Albert Bartlett Supreme Salad Potatoes are available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £2.20 for a 1.5kg bag.

Nando’s Peri-Ketchup – 17 calories per serving

Nando's Peri-Ketchup featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (17 calories per serving)

If you could eat Nando’s every day, this new Nando’s Peri-Ketchup is an easy way to add a touch of that signature spicy flavour to whatever your heart desires. Just as tomatoey as regular red sauce, this version has a kick of peri-peri heat to liven up chips, chicken, sandwiches, wraps and more.

Don’t worry if you don’t like things super spicy – it’s just a hint of chilli, for a mild spice level. Whether you squeeze it, dip it, or smother it all over your favourite foods, it’ll add a taste of the familiar restaurant flavour.

One of the things we do best is create fakeaway versions of our favourite orders, and this Nando’s Spicy Rice is the perfect example. It’s so much healthier and cheaper than eating out, but we promise it tastes just as good as the real deal!

A colourful portion of Pinch of Nom's Nando's Spicy Rice is served in a bright bowl with a spoon waiting to tuck in.

Nando’s Peri-Ketchup is available from Asda, priced at £2.50.

If chocolate for breakfast is right up your street, pencil in this Chocolate French Toast for a weekend treat. Golden and crunchy on the outside, you won’t be able to resist biting through to the melted, nutty chocolate spread centre…

Pinch of Nom's Chocolate French Toast is served on a summery blue plate with a swirl of aerosol cream and juicy, sliced strawberries. There are plates to the side with extra sliced strawberries and cream, and a yellow fork waiting to tuck in.

Bio & Me Cocoa Hazelnut Granola is available from Sainsbury’s, priced at £3.95.

For a more grown-up twist, keep your eyes peeled for the other new flavour that’s just been added to the range – the Caramel Latte Mix is also just 94 calories per serving. Whichever one you go for, serve it ice cold for a refreshing way to satisfy your sweet tooth!

If you fancy pushing things a step further, our Biscoff Cookie Milkshake is a whole dessert in a glass. Insanely thick and creamy, you’ll add in a scoop of low-calorie ice cream to make it taste even more luxurious.

Two glasses are filled with Pinch of Nom's slimming-friendly Biscoff Cookie Milkshake. Both are topped off with a generous swirl of low-fat aerosol cream, crushed biscuits and low-sugar syrup, with colourful striped straws peeking out ready for slurping.

Crusha Banana Milkshake Mix No Added Sugar is available from Morrisons, priced at £1.95.

Exceptional by ASDA Pork Sausage Rolls featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with the calorie count printed above (166 calories per sausage roll)

There’s a whole host of ‘Exceptional’ new products on the shelves at Asda, including everything from quiches to mocktails. We’ve popped these Exceptional by ASDA Pork Sausage Rolls at the top of our shopping list, since we can’t resist the sound of succulent pork, wrapped up in flaky all-butter puff pastry.

Suitable for air-frying or baking in the oven, you’ll know they’re ready when they’re piping hot and your kitchen smells like a bakery!

There’s no real pastry and no real meat in our Vegan Sausage Roll recipe, but that doesn’t mean they don’t look and taste the part. A lovely lower-calorie alternative that everyone can enjoy, they’re made from veggie sausages and tortilla wraps – so they work out at only 74 calories each!

NEW Aldi Super 6 Fruit and Veg Selection

The fruit and veg selection from Aldi's Super 6, alongside their prices, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping.

We love Aldi’s fortnightly selection of fresh fruit and veggies! They choose different items for a special offer where you can pick them up for much less than the normal price.

Here’s the rundown of this week’s Super 6 offering, along with some recipe ideas for you.

Little Gem Lettuce – 16 calories per 100g

Little Gem Lettuce from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (16 calories per 100g).

Crisp and fresh, little gem lettuce is a versatile, leafy ingredient. Slice it, grill it, pan-fry it or use it to scoop up other tasty ingredients –it holds its shape really well, so it works as a ‘cup’ or even as a ‘spoon’!

Drizzled in sauce and layered with salad, transform little gem lettuce into a feast with our Katsu Curry Burgers recipe.

Celery Sticks – 14 calories per 100g

Celery from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (14 calories per 100g).

Celery is a versatile vegetable that’s well worth picking up while it’s in the Super 6! It makes for a tasty addition to base sauces, stews and soups – alongside onions and carrots. It’s also great to nibble on dunked into a budget-friendly homemade dip, when you’re feeling peckish.

We cook celery down into the sauce for our Creamy Tomato Pasta to give it a nutritious flavour boost, along with plenty of other tasty veggies.

Pinch of Nom's Creamy Tomato Pasta is served in one large family-sized bowl, with 3 smaller, individual portions to the side. The pasta is garnished with basil leaves.

Cucumber – 15 calories per 100g

Cucumber from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (15 calories per 100g).

From salads to snacking, crunchy, refreshing cucumbers are bound to come in useful! Low in calories and full of goodness, we love to chop cucumbers into slices or sticks to dunk in hummus or our favourite homemade dips.

Try whipping up this easy Chickpea Tikka Dip – it comes together so quickly, and it can be as spicy as you feel like making it!

Bananas – 89 calories per 100g

Bananas from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (89 calories per 100g).

As a grab-and-go snack, breakfast ingredient or sweet treat, you can’t go wrong with a bunch of bananas in the house.

Grab a few extra bananas while they’re cheaper and don’t worry if you don’t get through them before they start to spoil – overripe bananas are just what you need for this Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips recipe.

A loaf of Pinch of Nom's Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips is served on a cooling tray and baking paper, with two slices already cut. The slices have fallen to reveal the sponge and chocolate chips inside. A small dish of extra chocolate chips waits to the side, and a knife is ready to cut more slices.

Large Vine Tomatoes – 18 calories per 100g

Vine Tomatoes from Aldi's Super 6 selection, featured in Pinch of Nom's Weekly Pinch of Shopping with calories above (18 calories per 100g).

With a deeper flavour than smaller, salad tomatoes, large vine ones can make your midweek meal feel that little bit fancier. They taste amazing when you roast them low and slow, with just a spray of low-calorie cooking spray and some salt and pepper.

Try a few chunks in our bright and colourful Baked Cod Provencal recipe. We love that everything bakes in the oven together to soak up all those lovely flavours…and cut down on the washing-up!

The words '9 Slimming-Friendly Vegetarian Lunch Ideas' appear on a vibrant green background below the Pinch of Nom logo.

It’s always easier to put a healthy, veggie-friendly meal plan together when you have plenty of vegetarian lunch ideas to get you through the week. When you don’t eat meat it can be a little trickier to keep mealtimes interesting, but there’s no reason to miss out on tasty, slimming-friendly food!

From soup to pasta, or even pizza for lunch, we’ve got loads of veggie recipes that are quick and easy to rustle up. Start by adding some of these 9 slimming-friendly vegetarian lunches to your weekly meal plan, and you’ll be counting down the hours until it’s time to tuck in…

Marmite Pasta

No matter how little time you have to cook on your lunch break, you can always spare 20 minutes for this Marmite Pasta. Gloriously simple, we’ve turned a handful of affordable ingredients into a hearty, filling meal that’s cheap, cheerful and just 305 calories per serving!

It’s a given that you’ll need to be a Marmite lover to enjoy this recipe (and if you are, we’ve got plenty more recipes that’ll be up your street!). By adding more or less of the lip-smacking savoury paste, you can tweak how Marmite-y it is, until it’s exactly how you like it.

Pinch of Nom's Marmite Pasta from the Budget cookbook is served in a bright yellow pasta bowl; a forkful is twisted and pulled above the bowl, showing strands of spaghetti coated in the savoury sauce, and revealing chopped leeks and onion stirred through.

Broccoli and Sweetcorn Fritters

We’ve packed loads of veggies into our Broccoli and Sweetcorn Fritters, and they make for a top notch lunch served with a quick side salad. They have a lovely flavour on their own, but they’re even better when you take them for a dunk in the creamy chilli and lime dip we’ve included in the recipe!

The only ingredient that’s not vegetarian is the Worcestershire sauce, so swap this for some Henderson’s relish and you’re good to go! Fry up your fritters and enjoy a veggie-friendly lunchtime bite, for just 202 calories per portion.

Minestrone Soup

A bowl of hearty soup is always a winner in the middle of the day. With oodles of vegetables, potatoes, beans and pasta in the mix, you’ll never be left hungry after slurping through a serving of our Minestrone Soup

It’s one of those recipes where the more veggies, the merrier – so there’s no need to stick to exactly the same lineup we’ve used. Throw in any stray veg that needs using up and let it simmer away in the rich, tomatoey broth. We like to add a sprinkle of Parmesan right before serving, but to keep things vegetarian, you can swap this or leave it out completely.

Vegetable Tarts

You probably think it would be a lot of hassle to bake a homemade tart on your lunch break, but what if we told you our slimming-friendly Vegetable Tarts are on the table in well under half an hour?

The trick is to forget about faffing with pastry, and grab a pack of low-calorie tortilla wraps instead! They’re ideal for holding the tasty filling of chopped veggies, and they’ll crisp up and turn golden as they bake.

Light yet satisfying, each 252-calorie tart can be enjoyed hot or cold (and we even like to add some Homemade Oven Chips when we’re feeling especially hungry!).

French Bread Pizza

If you can only spare 10 minutes to make your midday meal, pop our French Bread Pizza on your meal plan. Pizza for lunch might feel (and taste) indulgent, but a couple of nifty hacks mean this slimming-friendly vegetarian lunch is only 289 calories.

You’ll top your bread roll with our herby tomato mixture, before sprinkling on reduced-fat Cheddar cheese that’ll get gloriously gooey and golden in the oven. Don’t forget, there’s no reason you can’t get creative with this recipe – you can add your favourite pizza toppings, and just count any extra calories, if you’re keeping track!

Psst…if you’re a pizza fan, you’ll love these other pizza-inspired recipes!

Cheesy Chilli Toastie

A good old cheese sandwich is always an easy lunch option, but things really ramp up when you turn it into a crunchy, melt-in-the-middle cheese toastie. We like to push the flavours even further, which is why we’ve given this Cheesy Chilli Toastie an extra zing!

Fresh red chillies and a sprinkle of chilli powder are mixed into the cheese filling, adding a fiery edge to the mellow Gouda. This type of cheese can sometimes be made using rennet, so you’ll want to check the label to make sure it’s vegetarian (you can always use a different type of cheese if you prefer!).

Mushroom and Rarebit Muffins

Cheese, mushrooms, muffins…there’s lots of reasons to love our Mushroom and Rarebit Muffins as a vegetarian lunch idea! A lighter twist on the Welsh-inspired recipe, you can rustle them up from scratch in just 15 minutes.

We’ve mixed an egg yolk into the cheesy topping, to bring extra richness without adding loads of calories. A pinch of mustard powder and a splash of Henderson’s relish goes a long way, ramping up the savoury flavours until they’re completely irresistible!

Sweet Potatoes with Feta and Harissa

You can’t go wrong with a jacket spud for lunch, and these Sweet Potatoes with Feta and Harissa are no exception. The tender baked sweet potatoes are stuffed with salty feta and spicy harissa, for a balance of flavours that’ll liven up your lunch break!

Roasting your spuds will take a little while, so this is ideal for a weekend lunch, or if you like to plan ahead. Get the potatoes in the oven while you’re finishing up your morning, then add the toppings when you’re ready to eat.

Caramelised Onion Quiche

Members of our friendly Facebook group will be familiar with this final vegetarian lunch idea…a lovely slice of Caramelised Onion Quiche. It’s been hugely popular ever since we first added it to the website, and we understand exactly why!

The easy-peasy crustless quiche only uses a handful of simple ingredients, and yet they bubble away to create big flavours. Trust us, there’s something special about the combination of the sweetened red onion and sharp, creamy Cheddar cheese.

At just 164 calories per serving, you’ll be straight back for a second slice!
