I had pre cooked gammon ham to use so I added it just before the final 5 minutes with the remainder of the carrots, also meant that it wasn’t too salty.

I added 2 tsp of dried mixed herbs at the start and also added ground black pepper when I thickened the casserole. No need for salt as the gammon can be quite salty.

Yes, you can use tinned beans in this recipe, but you would need to add them at the end of cooking time and heat them through otherwise they may go mushy and fall apart.
